1986 All Ireland Colleges Final - Portlaoise 27th April 1986

Eleven players of the first fifteen were from Birr, plus another four Birr players were in the subs.

Out of the Birr Community School team that won the All Ireland Senior Colleges Hurling Final on the 27th April 1986, 11 of the first team and 4 of the subs were from Birr. They were, with player number in brackets – Brian Hennessy (2), Damien Geoghgan (3), Declan Sherlock (4), Victor Dunne (5), Michael Hogan (6), Declan Pilkington (7), Brendan O’Dwyer (9), Joe Errity (10), David Regan (11), Gary Cahill (13), and John Pilkington (15).

Subs: Justin Ryan (16) , Trevor Dunne (19), Adrian Cahill (25) and Brian Whelahan (26).
